t&h Disagreen swatchy notd

Disagreen is one of the first colors i planned for t&h.
The name is a Ravelry reference since i have a few colors named for the amusement of my polish hoars on LSG Gets Nailed. it's the color i attempted to mix up right after the spontaneously created 001. i went through a few batches, some too light, some too blue, some too thin... i kept mixing but didn't feel like it was quite what i was going for. somehow unfinished. <- like that sentence.

that was just from looking at it in the bottle and swiping it on paper. i disagreed with the color, not feeling i was getting the color i envisioned. it was a bit frustrating actually. i left the batch aside and moved on to other colors feeling this one was just not there yet.

last night while trying to organize the rest of the t&h colors
i decided to pour this into a t&h bottle give it a proper swatching.this color that was so disagreeable and giving me so much trouble. i had pulled out Kleancolor Chunky Holo Clover to top this with. thinking it would add that pop that i felt was missing from this green.

most accurate color representation so far.

i couldn't cover it up! to my amazement, it's even better that i had mentally pictured! just what i was going for. which proves (as if it had never been proven to me before time & time again) not to judge something based on looks alone. especially polishes. they look so different once they are on.

the moment i stroked the wet brush onto my nail i had to disagreen with my own self. "how could you think this color was blah? it's a magnificent green!"
so i present to you, my sleeper favorite (shhh! don't tel the others!)
Disagreen, a disagreeably agreeable dark jelly green.

are there colors in your polish stash you are avoiding using because you disagree with them? have you had a color that you finally tried and were pleasantly surprised to love? do you agree or disagree with Disagreen?

Happy 4th of July USA! here's a notd

i made three solid attempts at a 4th of July, patrioticy, red, white & blue manicure of some sort. i tried like half a dozen designs using tape, Migi pens, dots and stripes. in various combinations. i'm taking full on treatment, base coat, 2 coats of color and then ruining it with messy nail art.
they all came off off off! i chose to assert my independence and reach for a soothing minty green:

it's topped with a thin coat of Sally Hansen Prisms in Pure White Opal.
It adds a very subtle shimmer like the one in Chanel Jade.

there's a little too much blue in the pics i think. especially the one below.
just snapping them with my iphone these days.

do you try and do holiday themed nails? have you had any failed attempts at getting the look you want? what do you do when that happens?

t&h 011 (grey) notd with Migi nail art

i started with this:
this is one coat of 011 but i ended up adding a second a coat and thinning out the batch.

Can't leave clean canvas alone! plus, i had been playing with Migi pens all weekend. so, i added some hearts of 010 & 012 (lavender & mint respectively) with a dotting tool, yellow and pink hearts with Migi pens, some embelishments and a coat of fairy farts to get:

blurred slightly so you can see the holo space dust.

 check out that sparkle!

i did this Monday today. Today is Friday and there is no tipwear or chipping to speak of.

i am itching to change this up but how can i wipe of a perfectly good manicure?

as always i used Stickey Base and Poshe topcoat but i usually have at least some cracks by now. it's a good thing i like these these colors! :)

i am so excited to see i have 12 followers! thanks so much. it warms my heart. really.
at 25 followers i will do a giveaway so spread the word!

also, i'm on Google +
tweeandhoney@gmail.com
add me to your circles! i'd love to have more nail peeps in my stream.

old notds

this past weekend i met with the lovely people that bring us Migi Nail art pens. i got to do some demos with them and get out of town for a couple days. it was lots of fun! more on that in the future but for now, (even though today is officially my day off)  i am pulling in posts that are spread out over the interwebs. stuff from twitter, facebook and wherever. the pictures are spread out over different apps and this way they can be all neatly tucked in one place. they are from 2010 mostly so go back into the archives and flip through the posts for a look :)

June 2011 update

Howdy nail polish enthusiasts!
wow. there is so much to do to prepare even a small shop like mine to go live! i knew from the start it would be tons of work but it turned out to be even more involved than that. Any how, no excuses. it’s been a fun ride so far and i look forward to the journey ahead. i will keep working on finding a balance between my work life and business life, updating the blog consistently and getting better at the photography. in the meantime, i have added some colors to the t&h shop, continue to add info to the shop pages, and i am CONSTANTLY researching new product trends and sourcing products. that’s what most of the quiet time is about. behind the scenes, it’s all phone calls and emails and purchase orders. sounds boring but well, i quite enjoy it!
so about those product updates, the listings are up but not live. pictures have to be taken and swatches have to be swatched. there will be a presale time period where each bottle will be made to order. So anything marked “PRESALE” has to be custom made before it can be shipped out. as for the China Glaze holos (Kaleidoscope and OMG) the hold up is the pictures. if you are familiar with these colors than you know or at least have read online about how hard they are to represent on screen. and that’s what’s happening at t&h!
here’s a NOTD for ya

t&h color 006

this month has been absolutely bonkers. bridesmaiding for a dear friend’s wedding on top of getting everything together to launch t&h handblends has eaten the month of May 2011 never to be seen again! lol
now that the wedding weekend and memorial day comes to a close i managed to sneak enough time to myself to whip up a new color, yet unnamed, it’s the sixth color i’ve come up with for t&h:
you are looking at a sheer, subtle grey jelly with soft silver sparkle. whaddaya think? i am going to give it a try asap. i’ll put up pics when i do. now i am off to get ready for the last big bridesmaiding hoopla- dinner and a movie to close out the weekend. i predict June is going to be a whirlwind :)

franken NOTD Glitter in The Air

inspired by Deborah Lippman’s Glitter in the Air and Rebecca Likes Nails a buncha LSG Get’s Nailed hoars started frankening away. i followed suit, but was in the mood for a minty green. this is what i came up with:

it’s settles like crazy but most glittery frankens settle like crazy don’t they? the color is most accurate in the first photo.

i kept it kinda sheer so it’s needs 3 coats. i really love the way it layers so the glitters are at different levels. i also did a blue but i haven’t tried it yet.

what do yo think? have you frankened anything lately? are you running out to buy Party of Five Glitters right now?
